Tuscany is one of the most beautiful regions of Italy, with its rolling limestone hills, and classic vistas. Artists, writers and dreamers have been inspired by the beauty of the landscape, its people and its cities and towns for centuries. Cities such as Florence and Pisa along with Siena, are highlights. Plus there are many other smaller centres such as Volterra (famous for its Etruscan origins), Montalcino (home of the world famous Brunello di Montalcino), San Gimignano (a tiny and beautiful hill top town with a myriad of towers) and more. The Chianti region is a must visit for lovers of red wine. Le Crete Senesi are one of a selection of sites that photographers travel the world to capture. From the Tuscan coastline you can catch ferries to Islands such as Isola del Giglio and Sardegna.
The Andreoni family have beautiful apartments available in the wilds of Tuscany to the east of Siena at La Cerbaiola. Its a perfect place to get away from it all. If you want to visit them in their beautiful little village on the top of a hill, tell them I sent you!
My cousin Marco has a lovely Bed and Breakfast near Pisa called Il Giardino della Pieve. From there you can easily visit places such as Pisa, Lucca and Livorno.
To find out more about the region in general you can go to Discover Italy. Alternatively if you would like some travel advice you can contact Paola and Roberto (yes… more relatives!) who have a travel agency in Siena Cerbaiola Viaggi (just 10 minutes walk from La Mossa) for information and bookings.
